Smog disrupts Beijing traffic, flights

Fresh smog shrouded Beijing and some other provinces in China early on Sunday, disrupting highway traffic and flights.

Readings for PM2.5, hazardous particles measuring 2.5 microns in diameter or less, exceeded 200 micrograms per cubic meter at 9 a.m. in some areas, said the Beijing Environmental Protection Monitoring Center.

Tianjin Airlines launches air-truck intermodal cargo service to Beijing

TIANJIN Airlines inaugurated an air-truck intermodal cargo service to Beijing on November 1.

Transshipments from all parts of China can now fly to Tianjin on Tianjin Airlines’ services and be taken to Beijing by trucks the same day, while those bound from Beijing to the rest of China move the same way in the opposite direction.

UK ‘welcomes’ Chinese capital

The British Ambassador to China told an audience in Beijing on Friday that his government continues to welcome investment from China.

Sebastian Wood told the FT Chinese Annual Forum 2012 that the United Kingdom wants to lift its economy out of the global financial crisis by seeking investment-driven growth, rather than one led by domestic consumption. (more…)

Bombardier delivers first CRJ900 jet to China

CHINA’s first CRJ900 regional jet introduced by China Express Airlines successfully has reached Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport after a long-haul flight from Canada.

The CRJ900 regional jet first arrived in Tianjin Dongjiang Free Trade Port Zone and went through the custom formality on the end of last month, then at the Chongqing airport.
